Tighten the Knot

We have finally arrived in Crete! It is absolutely amazing here and I never want to leave. Our hotel has such a breathtaking view looking over the island and the ocean.

This week we are finally in the classroom and it has been a great experience. We have talked about the Power of Living, Now, WOW, and Giving. Today was the Power of Now. We heard a lecture from our professor, Doug, and he gave us his testimony. We watched a few videos on the Power of Now and heard from our guest speaker, Betty Siegel. The Power of Now is really a great thing. We talked about what matters now in your life and what you are going to do about it. You need to truly live and put yourself out in the world and make things happen now. We need to take things slow and enjoy them now before they are gone and we can never look back.

We had to choose a word and have it describe what matters now. My word was knots. Knots hold everything together and in my life it is my family that helps tie my knot together. At the end of the day when things have gone wrong and my knot has loosened, it is my family who I know will make it tighter. Live in the present, not in the future or past. I have so much going for me and want to make so many things happen in life that will be worthwhile. One day this week we had to write a bucket list for our life. I never really thought of things I would want to do until I sat down and wrote out the list and it made me realize there are a lot of things I want to do in my life before I die and I hope to get as many of them accomplished as I possibly can.

So today my life in three words in “tighten the knot” because I need to remember that no matter what, I have people in my life that will help get my knot together and they are what matters most in my life and should never be put on the back burner. Nothing should come between family or friends for me.

This week has been truly amazing and it only makes me that much more excited to be in the classroom this week. Our program directors and all of our speakers and TA’s have made this such a worthwhile experience and I feel like I have already learned so much and will walk away from this trip a better person.
